Southern Launch to Host Innospace Missions from Australian Sites
Southern Launch has entered into an agreement with South Korean launch provider Innospace to conduct space missions from two of its Australian facilities: the Whalers Way Orbital Launch Complex and the Koonibba Test Range.
Lloyd Damp, CEO of Southern Launch, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: “We’re thrilled to welcome INNOSPACE to our launch sites. INNOSPACE is leading the way in launch vehicle development, and we’re proud to support their technology and mission goals from both Whalers Way and Koonibba. This partnership aligns with our joint commitment to expanding access to space and delivering flexible, dependable launch solutions for global customers.”
This collaboration will enable Innospace to conduct a broad array of missions from Southern Launch locations, encompassing orbital satellite launches and suborbital technology demonstrations. The contract is set to begin in 2026 and is expected to extend for at least ten years.
Soojong Kim, founder and CEO of Innospace, commented: “Our partnership with Southern Launch marks a significant step in broadening INNOSPACE’s global launch service footprint. The expanded site network enhances our ability to address a wider range of mission requirements—from satellite deployments and technology demonstrations to space-manufactured product return missions—while improving our commercial viability through tailored rapid-launch solutions and multi-launch operational frameworks.”
Southern Launch notes that Innospace has already reached notable milestones, including becoming the first private South Korean company to successfully launch the HANBIT‑TLV test vehicle in 2023. Building on this milestone, Innospace has continued to advance its propulsion and orbital capabilities, qualified engines for orbital missions, and widened conversations with potential customers about future launches.
