Nemanja Maksic, a Serbian swimmer and bronze medalist at the 2025 European Junior Swimming Championships, has verbally committed to Princeton University for the 2027-28 academic year. This commitment marks a significant step in his swimming career, as he aims to join the prestigious Ivy League institution. With a focus on sprint butterfly, Maksic has already achieved remarkable success, holding all Serbian national age group records from age 10 to 18 in the 50 fly. His recent achievements include breaking the Serbian 17/18 national record with a time of 23.78 at the European Junior Championships in Šamorín, Slovakia. Additionally, he has set personal bests in various events, including the 100 free (51.15) and 100 fly (54.10) at the Golden Bear International Swimming Meeting in Zagreb, Croatia, and the 50 free (23.51) at the Malmsten Swim Open in Stockholm. Princeton's swimming team, known as the Tigers, is set to benefit from Maksic's talent, as he joins a group of highly-rated swimmers, including Jonny Palamar, Cade Vieler, Jack Cunningham, Jose Rodriguez, Kannen Crossland, and Max Van Stone. The team's strength is further emphasized by the presence of three butterflyers under 47 seconds this season: Logan Noguchi, Alex Townsend, and Conor McKenna. As Maksic prepares for his arrival at Princeton, he will join a training group that has expanded to include top-tier swimmers like Yury Kuzmenko, Isaiah Tucker, Michael Geh, and Ben Cotroneo.
