Louisville Sweeps Mizzou! Anastasia Gorbenko's NCAA Debut & Midseason Additions Shine (2026)

Get ready for an exciting dive into the world of college swimming! Louisville's men and women dominate Mizzou, but there's more to this story than meets the eye.

January 9, 2026, Louisville, Kentucky: Ralph Wright Natatorium

The Louisville Cardinals swept Missouri in an intense dual meet, but the women's team had a secret weapon - midseason additions that changed the game.

Women's Meet Recap:

All eyes were on Anastasia Gorbenko, making her NCAA debut at 22. This talented swimmer had to wait a year due to NCAA rules, and she didn't disappoint. Gorbenko swam three events, including the 100 breaststroke, where she clocked an impressive 58.45, moving her up to 11th in the nation.

But here's where it gets controversial... Gorbenko's addition wasn't the only surprise. Meet Thilda Hall, a Swedish freshman and distance specialist. Hall dominated the 1000 and 500 freestyle events, showcasing her talent on the global stage.

And this is the part most people miss... Louisville's returning swimmers also played a crucial role. Summer Cardwell took the 200 freestyle and 200 IM, while Julia Dennis led a sweep in the 50 and 100 freestyle. The Cardinals won all but one individual swimming event, with Mia Cheatwood and Caroline Larsen rounding out the winners.

Men's Meet Recap:

While the men's team didn't have the same midseason boost, they still dominated. The Cardinals won both relays and had individual winners in Gregg Enoch (500 free and 200 IM), Jackson Millard (200 backstroke), and Rian Graham (100 fly).

Mizzou put up a fight with event winners like Luke Nebrich (50 and 100 free) and Jan Zubik (200 fly). Tanner Braunton, a sophomore diver, also shone, winning both diving events.

Up Next:

Mizzou takes on the University of Kentucky on January 10th, while Louisville heads to the Texas Showdown on January 23rd.

So, who do you think will come out on top in these upcoming meets? Will Louisville's women continue their winning streak? And what about the men's team - can they maintain their dominance? Let's discuss in the comments and predict the outcomes!
